Aerospace ReCycling Assessment, Design and implEmentation

Objective:
The ARCADE project aims to develop an innovative system for recycling uncured composite materials intended for the production of aircraft seat shells. The project's goal is to reduce costs and environmental impact by recovering production waste, thereby promoting a more efficient and sustainable circular economy model.

 

Expected results
Development of a system for recycling uncured composite materials for the production of aircraft seat shells, with the aim of reducing the environmental impact of aeronautical component manufacturing through the use of Industry 4.0 technologies.

 

Achivements:

  • Report on the state of the art of composite materials used in the aerospace sector, defining material classes and recycling technologies;
  • Analysis report on SCADA software used for monitoring and controlling industrial processes;
  • Definition of the regulatory framework and “coupon level” testing required for the materials produced within the project;
  • Selection of the seat shell component and analytical evaluation of the mechanical performance of the current material;
  • Identification of a test bed in order to ensure the reliability of results and compliance with real operational scenarios.
